Protecting Your Skin With Clean Sunscreen with Sara D’Amelio

It’s no secret that consistent sunscreen application is crucial to aging gracefully and protecting your skin against prolonged sun exposure. However, very few people take the time to understand what is actually in their sunscreen and how these harmful chemicals could be causing breakouts, irritation, or rashes. How can you protect your skin from the sun as safely as possible, without all of the toxic ingredients?

Sara D’Amelio struggled to find beauty products that suited her sensitive skin for years. In 1998, she started working in a luxury beauty store hoping that the high-end products would heal her skin issues, but these toxin-filled products only exacerbated her irritation. Sara vowed to use only clean and natural products and spent five years training to become a holistic esthetician. She committed to treating clients with difficult skin issues and eventually founded her own clean skincare company, Skincando. Skincando’s sunscreen product, Liquid Silver, aims to show that you can protect your skin and nourish it too.

In this episode, Sara talks to Jen about the importance of reading the labels on your sunscreen. They discuss why Sara created a toxin-free sunscreen, how to responsibly spend time in the sun, and how a clean sunscreen can fit into your skincare routine.
